'Dingo Lane at Dusk'
Oil On Linen, 100 x 100cm
Dingo Lane at Dusk is a living work; it pulsates with mottled Australian light, beckoning visions of smoke clouds drifting above a dirt road under the canopy of dusk. The sun of our country exists in embers, in a murky rise and fall with a blinding peak at noon; here, the reprieve of sunset radiates from glinting copper pigments and washes of oil. The gentle fugue that accompanies transit is aroused by a hazed composition; as we weave through the long Australian grass and along its chalky paths we become one with them.

In tumultuous times we often return to places of familiar safety. However it is that same tumult that often prevents us from returning to these sites of comfort and security. It is by the artist's hand that we are offered an alternative, sometimes even more significant refuge.
Brenda Colahan Fine Art is pleased to present Nest, an exhibition of paintings from five bold contemporary painters working across Australia who, by brush, paint, and spirit, have interpreted the sensations and memories of shelter and belonging. This exhibition showcases a range of techniques that all yield colourful, soulful portals that transport us toward a more subjective understanding of home.

'View From Koonyum Range'
Koonyum Range is part of the ancient and sacred land of the Bundjalung nation in northeast New South Wales. It is close to my home and is a special place to visit, especially at dawn and dusk. ‘View from Koonyum Range’ attempts to capture the ethereal nature of this region from one of my favourite view points.
